Can Rural E-Commerce Become the Adhesive Between Urban and Rural Areas in the Digital Age?

Abstract: The most difficult job still rests in rural areas: promoting rural regeneration extensively and building a socialist modernized nation. The development of rural and agricultural regions must be given priority in the future, in addition to facilitating the transfer of urban and rural components and integrating urban and rural development. The Taobao village and Theil index provincial panel data from 31 Chinese provinces between 2014 and 2022 as the foundation for our investigation. Using a fixed effects model and multiple linear regression approach, the effects of expanding rural e-commerce on the income gap between urban and rural regions and the return of the rural population are explored. The findings demonstrate that e-commerce in rural areas expanding may raise the return on investment for rural populations while also reducing the difference in income between those living in cities and rural areas. Nonetheless, there remains a considerable disparity in wealth between the countryside and the cities in several of our nation's provinces, and these inequalities vary greatly from year to year. The level of development of rural e-commerce varies significantly between different locations, with the general level of development falling between moderate and poor. Read More

Research on the Price Fluctuation Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Manganese Silicon Futures in China Based on the ARMA-GARCH Model and VAR Model

Abstract: With the turbulence and changes in the international situation, various industries are facing numerous uncertainties, and China's industrial sector is also encountering significant challenges. Silicon manganese alloy is an important ferroalloy with wide production and application, making it critical to industrial production. Therefore, fluctuations in its price have a profound impact on industrial production. However, due to the late listing of manganese-silicon futures, research on its price fluctuations is still in its infancy. Additionally, since silicon manganese alloy sits in the middle of the industrial supply chain, many scholars are more inclined to study black series futures rather than focusing solely on manganese-silicon futures. Thus, in-depth research into the price fluctuations of manganese-silicon futures is particularly significant, as it can fill the academic gap in this field and provide effective guidance for practical operations. This paper selects the closing price data of manganese-silicon futures from the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange from 2014 to 2024 and establishes an ARMA-GARCH model. Using EGARCH and GARCH-M, it analyzes the existence of the "leverage effect" and the characteristics of "high risk, high return" in manganese-silicon price volatility. Additionally, a vector autoregression model is constructed using the conditional volatility fitted by the ARMA-EGARCH model in relation to the changes in China’s industrial value-added growth rate, PPI growth rate, and the exchange rate of the RMB against the USD. The analysis shows that these three factors do not jointly Granger-cause the fluctuations in manganese-silicon prices, with the PPI growth rate having a more significant impact on long-term manganese-silicon price volatility compared to short-term volatility. Finally, policy recommendations based on the research findings are proposed to provide reference for relevant departments and enterprises. Read More

Dynamic Correlation between the RMB Exchange Rate and China's Import and Export Trade before and after the COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract: This research employs data on the real effective exchange rate of the Renminbi, alongside aggregate import and export statistics, to construct a vector autoregression model. The objective of this investigation is to look into the dynamic interplay between the CNY currency rate and trade flows amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The research reveals a persistent equilibrium connection between the REER, import volumes, and export volumes. Moreover, import trade is subject to Granger causality influence from changes in the real exchange rate of the RMB, suggesting that this exchange rate significantly affects fluctuations in total imports. Further analysis reveals that the impact of imports and exports on fluctuations in the RMB exchange rate is relatively minor. However, the impact of the Renminbi exchange rate on trade flows is increasingly considerable and becomes more clearly observable over an extended period. Read More

Research on the Effectiveness and Response Mechanism of Enterprise Anti-Shorting Strategy

Abstract: With the deepening participation of Chinese enterprises in the global capital market, Chinese concept stocks have become an important channel for overseas financing. However, since 2010, Chinese companies have been repeatedly shorted due to the trust crisis, and information disclosure problem has become the focus of attacks by short sellers. This article takes Muddy Waters short Anta Sports as an example, analyzes the strategies of Chinese stocks to deal with the short crisis, and puts forward suggestions on improving information disclosure, improving the awareness of crisis prevention and coping ability. The study found that Anta Sports successfully counter Muddy Waters' short selling with emergency suspensions, clarification announcements and earnings reports, which not only confirmed the authenticity and integrity of its financial information, but also boosted investor confidence and gained broad support. Still, Anta still has room for improvement in the integrity and transparency of information disclosure, which is closely related to its corporate governance structure. Based on the "crisis management theory", this paper provides a comprehensive anti-short strategy for Chinese enterprises, including improving the corporate governance structure, improving the quality of information disclosure, and quickly responding to their suggestions on information disclosure content. These strategies can help enterprises to prevent and deal with the short crisis more effectively and achieve the crisis transformation. Read More

A Century of Changes in the Policy of Fiscal Support for Agriculture under the Leadership of the Communist Party of China

Abstract: Financial support for agriculture is an important policy decision of the Communist Party of China to consistently support agricultural development. Based on historical institutionalism, looking at the evolution of the policy of fiscal support for agriculture over the past hundred years since the founding of the party, each stage can be roughly divided into: from "rent reduction and interest reduction" during the war, "scissors difference" after the founding of the People's Republic of China to absorb agricultural resources, to diversification of financial investment, the implementation of "more giving, less taking, and revitalization" for agriculture, and high-quality development in the new era. Analysis of Investor Sentiment and Trading Behavior

Abstract: This work focuses on analyzing the non-ferrous metal stock market by selecting specific indicators to reflect the sector's overall performance, considering the prevalent market conditions. In this paper, we preprocessed the index data and applied principal component analysis to obtain five principal components, accounting for 95.263% of the total variance, thereby establishing an investor sentiment measurement model. Further, to establish a correlation between trading volume and investor sentiment, we conducted logistic regression analysis based on the sentiment measurement model. The tested model achieved an accuracy rate of 87.3%. Additionally, using a Python web crawler, we collected and standardized the "greed and fear index" as an emotional indicator, matched it with daily data, and incorporated it into the logistic regression model. This enhanced model exhibited an accuracy rate of 82.5%. Our findings reveal that the greed and fear index has a more significant impact on emotional index changes than trading volume and turnover rate in logistic regression. This work not only contributes to a deeper understanding of investor sentiment in the non-ferrous metal stock market but also provides insights into potential market behaviors, guiding investors and policymakers in making informed decisions. The Impact of Financial Capital on Contemporary China and Global Development Trends

Abstract: Since the 1980s, financial capital has gradually assumed a dominant role in global economic development. Emerging as a new form of capital, financial capital has expanded globally; however, its essence remains tied to the general laws of economic development. The historical trajectory of financial capital has been profoundly shaped by the unbalanced political economy led by capitalist states, cyclical global financial crises, and the transformation of Western capitalist values, which has led people to pursue the "greed" inherent in capital. Marx analyzed the development of capitalism and posited that capitalist crises are inevitable, with the unlimited expansion of capital being a fundamental characteristic of capitalist development. Therefore, in critiquing the globalization of financial capitalism, it is necessary to base the analysis on Marx’s theoretical framework regarding the logic of capital, while also focusing on the developmental trends of capital on the global stage. Furthermore, the implications of this development require careful analysis and consideration. In this context, China's unwavering commitment to the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics should also be thoroughly examined, with a view to building a community of shared future for humanity.
